A mascot for an FCU and a University? Done.
A copywriting challenge. A choreographer’s dream.
RED ROBIN MASCOT “MOOD”: protective (of the local area, team, and fans), bouncy, cheerful MOVEMENTS AND BEHAVIORS: Hyping up the crowd, game face is on, he’s territorial, he’s confident, he is loyal to the Demon Deacon // When Wake Forest is down, instead of looking sad, he tries to keep fans happy and excited with his “Don’t give up yet!” mentality // Short, light hops, or skipping when walking // Chest puffing (hands on hips, chest out proudly) to show energy and confidence // Quick head tilts and pecks like he’s curious // "Wing hugs". He takes people under his wing (aka guidance, leadership)
OWL MASCOT “MOOD”: Calm, educational, wise MOVEMENTS AND BEHAVIORS// Slow head turns to intimidate individual audience members for laughs // Fake “consulting” with a player/joining in on huddles, talking about what to do next, symbolizing that people trust the Owl’s skills and expertise // Joining in on chants (with the help of the announcer) as the “WHO?” // “We believe in WHO?” (crowd cheers) “YOU!”
SQUIRREL MASCOT “MOOD”: Energetic, silly, restless MOVEMENTS AND BEHAVIORS // Fast twitchy motions – tail wiggles, fake digging, fake “stashing” acorns in pockets or satchel // Hyper hops, spins, and jumps // Climbs on things (safe ledges, walls, railings) and pretends to scout // Fake nibbling on an acorn // Waves both hands high for crowd energy; really good at dancing with WFU cheerleaders and stunts
